Watch Eddie Vedder Premiere His New Solo Song, “Long Way,” at Pearl Jam’s Ohana Festival

Pearl Jam front man Eddie Vedder recently debuted “Long Way,” a song previewing his forthcoming solo album Earthling — and during Pearl Jam’s multi-day Ohana Festival event last month in Southern California, he gave the track its live debut.
On Thursday, Vedder premiered the video of the live performance, for which he was flanked by an impressive array of musical friends including Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith, legendary bassist Pino Palladino, former Chili Peppers guitarist and current Pearl Jam touring guitarist Josh Klinghoffer (on piano here), producer/musician Andrew Watt and Vedder’s longtime pal and colleague, Glen Hansard.
Once released, Earthling will be Eddie Vedder’s third proper full-length solo record and the first since 2011’s Ukulele Songs — though he’s kept plenty busy separate from his work with Pearl Jam, which released the dynamic new album Gigaton in 2020 (and is still awaiting a proper tour in support of it).
Just this past August, Vedder teamed up with longtime friend/collaborator Glen Hansard and Cat Power on eight new compositions for the soundtrack album to Flag Day, a film directed by Sean Penn (another of Vedder’s longtime friends and collaborators).
In late 2020, Eddie Vedder dropped an EP of at-home recordings titled Matter of Time.
