Watch Don Felder and Slash Team Up on ‘Hotel California’ at Gibson Guitars’ NAMM Show Party

It’s NAMM Show week in Southern California, which means some of the biggest stars in music are in proximity to the convention center halls in Anaheim — and on Thursday night, a bunch of ’em took over the Grove for GIbson Guitars’ party (hosted by an amusing John Stamos) … including none other than Don Felder and Slash, who lit up the stage with a rendition of Felder’s Eagles classic “Hotel California.”
Now, the context is important for this performance. The ‘house band’ on the evening was an all-star ensemble featuring Jimmy Vivino as band leader/guitarist, Kenny Aronoff on drums and Darryl Jones of the Rolling Stones on bass.

Throughout the night, a number of stars and avid Gibson/Epiphone enthusiasts — among them Billy F. Gibbons of ZZ Top, Rick Nielsen and Robin Zander of Cheap Trick, Elliot Easton of the Cars, Lizzy Hale of Halestorm, Richie Faulkner of Judas Priest and countless more (including some very gifted young players).

Seriously, the talent was dizzying.
One of the most incredible moments of the night’s jaw-dropping group of talent was “Hotel California,” which featured the aforementioned backing band, Felder, his iconic double-necked Gibson guitar, and Slash. It was a sight to behold:

Slash’s appearance wasn’t announced ahead of time — in fact, no details regarding who would be performing were announced ahead of time, to preserve the surprise — but him showing up did make a lot of sense, considering the Guns N’ Roses’ guitarist just announced a big collaboration with Gibson for 2020.
But yeah …, Don Felder and Slash, rippin’ it up together on one of the most classic songs ever recorded. Not bad for a rainy Thursday evening.
