There was only one Dimebag Darrell Abbott, the loud-and-proud lead guitarist for heavy metal marauders Pantera — and there’s only one Dimebash.

This year, it’s returning to the Observatory in Santa Ana, California on Thursday, January 16 and promises to be a hellraising good time for all in attendance.

Just as it did in 2019, Dimebash 2020 takes place right at the start of the NAMM Show, when countless members of the music industry will convene in Orange County for the four-day trade show/conference. This means, of course, that the area will be peppered with bona fide rock stars, some of which will take part in Dimebash 2020.

Dave Grohl, who did double duty in ’19 as a performer *and* the BBQ for the backstage/VIP area, will once again take part in the madness, as he’s very close to all things Dimebag (and Abbott’s partner/Dimebash event promoter Rita Haney).

Said Haney in a statement about Dimebash 2020:

“This year will mark the 15 year anniversary since Darrell was taken from us…even more of a reason to come together with friends and chosen family to honor the man that brought so much love and laughter to our lives … not to mention some pretty sick tuneage!!! If you’ve never experienced ‘the room’ at Dimebash, it’s something you can’t describe – the love, the unity, the smiles, the magic. It’s a special kind of vibe you have to check out at least once for yourself. Then you’ll almost know what it’s like to have Dime physically in the room.”

Last year’s event was a head trip of epic proportions, as the night’s festivities featured appearances by the likes of Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour, Pantera’s Rex Brown, Scott Ian and Charlie Benante of Anthrax, drummers Dave Lombardo and Art Cruz, guitarist Nita Strauss, members of Armored Saint, Hellyeah and many more, playing Pantera classics and some of Dimebag’s personal favorite songs from a wide array of artists throughout the evening.

Hosting Dimebash 2020 once again is Jose Mangin, SiriusXM DJ and card-carrying metalhead — who even took the stage to sing a song himself last year!

The official list of participating acts beyond Grohl has yet to be unveiled, but don’t worry — it’ll be a doozy. For tickets and more details, visit this link.
