Over the weekend, Slipknot/Stone Sour vocalist Corey Taylor announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and would be unable to make a planned visit at a pop culture convention in Michigan. In a video statement, he detailed the sickness, adding that he was feeling, “very, very sick.”

On Monday afternoon, Taylor returned to social media with an update: He’s doing much better, and is “out of the woods,” so to speak. “The fever’s gone, aches are gone, I’m sweating everything out. I’m still congested, but I am slowly but surely making my way. It shouldn’t be too much longer before I test negative.”

Taylor took the opportunity with his video statement to urge anybody on the fence to get vaccinated. His video statement came the same day the FDA formally approved the Pfizer vaccine.

“Because I was vaccinated, I truly believe that is what helped me get over the brink. This is the worst I’ve ever been sick in my life, and had I not been vaccinated, I shudder to think how bad it would’ve been. But, because I had that extra little bit of protection, man, it definitely helped me get through it. So, go, go, go get it, if you’re still on the fence, I’m telling you right now — it’s the best thing you can do for yourself.”

Corey Taylor and Slipknot have a host of live performances coming up soon — assuming he does indeed test negative and the shows are able to take place as planned. The shows include headlining performances at Rocklahoma on Sept. 3, Inkcarceration Festival on Sept. 10, Riot Fest in Chicago on Sept. 19, leading into a new installment of the metal band’s Knotfest tour:
