On Friday, acclaimed country/roots singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton released his fourth full-length album, Starting Over. The recording sessions for the record were completed in February, shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic threw everything into chaos.

The album was written by Stapleton and Mike Henderson and produced by the esteemed Dave Cobb, and also features Stapleton’s beloved wife, Morgane Stapleton (vocals, tambourine), with longtime bandmates J.T. Cure (bass) and Derek Mixon (drums). Special guests include legendary musicians Mike Campbell (electric guitar), Benmont Tench (Hammond B3 organ) and Paul Franklin (pedal steel) as well as the All Voices Choir who are featured on “Watch You Burn,” written by Stapleton and Campbell.

Starting Over is an anticipated release among the country circuit, Stapleton holding a special reputation among the community for his revered body of work and acclaim over the years.

To date, Chris Stapleton has earned five GRAMMYs, 10 Country Music Association Awards, seven Academy of Country Music Awards and the esteem of musical peers in and outside the “country” realm, mostly from his co-writing feats. Among his many accomplishments, Stapleton has co-written six No. 1 country songs, earning major success with artist including Kenny Chesney, Luke Bryan, Adele, Brad Paisley and more.

All that to say: He’s a big deal, and Starting Over is a strong, strong release.
