Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, Jennifer Hudson Playing Central Park’s Reopening Concert in NYC

New York City’s Central Park will host a special reopening concert event this summer, headlined by a formidable trio of acts: Bruce Springsteen, Paul Simon, and Jennifer Hudson will take the stage to help commemorate the city’s reopening, which is currently scheduled for Aug. 21.
Via Variety:
Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a news conference Thursday that there are “a lot more details to come” about the event, which is booked in collaboration with the iconic music producer Clive Davis.
“This is going to be one of the greatest Central Park concerts in history,” de Blasio said. “This is something for the ages.”
Variety also notes that Davis previously stated that eight “iconic” artists will participate in the event, which organizers expect will attract an audience around 60,000 — which would make for a powerful visual as the city (and country) continues its move out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
This news comes as “The Boss” restarted his Springsteen on Broadway show on June 26. Hudson, meanwhile, will be participating in this special NYC event on the heels of the premiere of Respect, the Aretha Franklin biopic that features Hudson in the titular role. The film premieres on Aug. 13, and a teaser trailer was recently shared:
