This past weekend, BottleRock Napa Valley music festival staged its 2021 event in Northern California, headlined by Guns N’ Roses, Foo Fighters and The Highwomen in a reunion performance that wasn’t originally scheduled … making for a nice treat for the fans in attendance. (Also treat was Dave Grohl joining GnR for “Paradise City,” though their amplifiers were shut off mid-song due to curfew rules).
After no 2020 BottleRock due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a rescheduled edition saw headliner Stevie Nicks cancel her performance (as well as her other planned 2021 events) over health and safety concerns. Chris Stapleton stepped in to play in her place, though he also dropped out due to a non-COVID-19-related illness. Enter the Highwomen — Brandi Carlile, Natalie Hemby, Amanda Shires (who didn’t appear at BottleRock) and Maren Morris, the acclaimed country/pop supergroup that was an excellent addition to the lineup.
