Though the COVID-19 pandemic ensured there wouldn’t be a traditional, in-person edition of the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival this year, the festival planned ahead for 2021 nonetheless — and has now pushed back its rescheduled dates from June 17-20, 2021 to Sept. 2-5, 2021.

A detailed message was placed on the festival’s website announcing the new change:

We want to thank you for being a loyal Bonnaroovian, and we appreciate your patience as we navigate the best options to ensure we can be together on the Farm in 2021.

The dates we originally announced for Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival 2021 have changed.  Bonnaroo will now take place on September 2-5, 2021.  Information on lineup, camping and accommodations will be available at a later date.

We encourage you to rollover your tickets to the new dates, however, we will make refunds available for those who cannot attend.

This decision to move the 2021 dates again seems like a smart one for Bonnaroo, given the continued uncertainty of live music as a result of the pandemic, which has everybody curious when live events will be able to return.

This past weekend, the festival rolled out Virtual ROO-ALITY, a multi-day ‘virtual event’ taking the place of its in-person event. The streams (which are now offline) featured a mix of new performances and archival Bonnaroo footage from acts including Metallica, The White Stripes, James Brown, My Morning Jacket, Alabama Shakes and, notably, the Beastie Boys’ final concert performance in June 2009, as well as a host of new performances showcasing the lineup depth that Bonnaroo has become known for over the years.
