On Monday, Bleachers, the the indie/pop project and stage name of songwriter/producer Jack Antonoff, shared a pair of performance videos from the rooftop of Electric Lady Studios in New York City. One was for “Chinatown,” Bleachers’ acclaimed new collaboration with Bruce Springsteen — and The Boss joined the band for the performance:

The second performance clip was for the single’s b-side, “45”:

Both songs act as a preview of Bleachers’ upcoming studio album, which is expected out in 2021 and will be the project’s third to date (and first since 2017).

Said Jack Antonoff of this on-the-roof performance series:

“i go to electric lady every day to work. i sit on the roof for hours and hours. probably spent more time on that roof this year than my bed. kept imagining the band up there on all the different levels playing on 8th street with everything patched into the console of studio D. was the first time we played these songs and the first time we played together since the pandemic. was like a dream”

The official music video for “Chinatown” was shared in mid-November:

Over the years, Antonoff has earned significant attention with his various work in the music business. To date, he’s earned 16 GRAMMY nominations (four of them wins), with two very high-profile nominations recently announced for 2021: Producer of the Year (non-classical) and Album of the Year (for his work on Taylor Swift’s revelatory 2020 album folklore).
