Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and the Bangles’ Susanna Hoffs Teamed Up to Cover ‘Manic Monday’ While Quarantined (Watch)

Last week, Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day announced his new “No Fun Mondays” series, in which he planned to upload one cover song each week during the coronavirus pandemic, “until we’re let back out into the world.” This week’s entry is a rendition of the classic Bangles track “Manic Monday,” which he recorded with the aid of Susanna Hoffs herself — filmed remotely, of course, so as to maintain the rules of social distancing.
The end result is a delightful little cover featuring Armstrong his trusty canine companion and Hoffs in split-screen action, turning in a great performance of “Manic Monday”:
On a related note, it appears Hoffs has started her own video series …

This is technically Armstrong’s third cover song/video of this new series, as it all began with his spin on Tommy James & the Shondells’ “I Think We’re Alone Now”:
Which was then followed by Johnny Thunders’ “You Can’t Put Your Arms Around A Memory,” which accompanied the announcement of #NoFunMondays:
Despite its name, this is a fun little series of covers that are proving to be a great way for Billie Joe Armstrong to pass the time. After all, the Green Day front man is notorious for always keeping busy with one project or another … so this ought to keep him occupied for a while.
