Happy 30th birthday to Josh Katz, front man of the band Badflower.

It doesn’t seem as if Katz is especially thrilled by the occasion, though. Here are some lyrics from the group’s new song, “30,” which premiered on Friday:

I’m nervous, so nervous
I overeat, I lack purpose
And I’m only scratching the surface (Ooh, hey)
And I’m not shelved ’cause sex sells
But how long ’til I’m canceled?
This is thirty, fuckin’ thirty
I’m still here, I’m still dirty

The Los Angeles-based alt/rock band emerged in 2019 with OK, I’m Sick, its compelling debut record — and would have spent Summer 2020 on the road opening for 311 and Incubus, had the COVID-19 pandemic not ruined those plans.

Here’s “30”:

A music video for “30” will premiere at 7:30 p.m. EDT/4:30 p.m. PDT on Friday on YouTube:

On Saturday, July 18, Badflower will celebrate the premiere of the song, Katz’s birthday and the birthdays of two of his band mates with S.H.I.T Fest (“So Happy I’m Thirty”), an online live stream concert event also featuring Dead Sara, Bones UK and Dead Poet Society.

More information and tickets to the event can be found here.

The event is a fundraiser for two charities: Freedom For Immigrants and 320 Changes Direction, which was co-founded by Talinda Bennington, widow of Linkin Park vocalist Chester Bennington (Badflower took part in the 320 Festival Online for Mental Health in May).
