Hard-rock powerhouse Alter Bridge will release a new album, Pawns & Kings, on Oct. 14.

The group, featuring Myles Kennedy on vocals alongside longtime Creed members Mark Tremonti (lead guitar), Brian Marshall (bass) and Scott Phillips, introduced the new record with the roaring title track on Monday.

Take a listen:

Pawns & Kings will be the seventh album from Alter Bridge, and the follow-up to 2019’s Walk the Sky.

A news release notes that the new material stemmed largely from material that sprang to life after the proper touring and promotion cycle for Walk the Sky was cut short by the pandemic in 2020 — and allowed the musicians to breathe a bit, so to speak:

Songs like “Dead Among The Living,” “Silver Tongue” and “Holiday” showcase the signature songwriting the band is known for. The album offers numerous epic adventures, with three songs clocking in over six minutes each. The opus “Fable Of The Silent Son” clocks in 8:29 and is the longest recorded song in the band’s catalogue – a distinction held by “Blackbird” until now.

The track listing:

1) This Is War
2) Dead Among The Living
3) Silver Tongue
4) Sin After Sin
5) Stay
6) Holiday
7) Fable Of The Silent Son
8) Season Of Promise
9) Last Man Standing
10) Pawns & Kings

Alter Bridge plans on heavy touring to support the record and make up for lost time, so stay tuned for North American dates. A run of European shows is coming up in the fall with Halestorm and Mammoth WVH:
