On June 11, AFI returned with Bodies, the alt/punk band‘s 11th studio album and first since 2017. A dark, moody album featuring some of the band’s strongest work in a while, Bodies is an intriguing addition to the versatile group’s shape-shifting career.

On Monday, AFI announced a headlining tour for Spring 2022, starting in February and running into late March, with special guest Cold Cave.

“So anxiously, we’ve awaited the ability to perform our eleventh record for you,” said vocalist Davey Havok in a statement. “This winter, please join us in the Bodies celebration long overdue.”

The dates:

2/11 – SOMA – San Diego, CA
2/12 – The Theater at Virgin Hotel – Las Vegas, NV

The path AFI has gone down since its mid ’90s rise and mainstream breakout is a unique one. Many of the acts that hit it big in the punk/emo scene of the day have since faded away, but rather than become a relic of a bygone era, the band has developed an ability to stay fresh and vibrant — and, sometimes, unpredictably so, which has probably helped them remain a cohesive creative force decades later.
