‘Mike Garson’s A Bowie Celebration’: Special David Bowie Global Live Stream Tribute Event Set for 1/8

This coming Friday, Jan. 8, marks what would have been the 74th birthday of David Bowie. Two days later, Jan. 10, marks the fifth anniversary of Bowie’ death in 2016 — and to commemorate the occasion, Bowie’s longtime band member Mike Garson has put together a global live stream event that is sure to be an amazing musical tribute experience.

Mike Garson’s A Bowie Celebration: Just for One Day! is a virtual edition of his frequent Bowie Celebration concert tours, which (in non-pandemic circumstances) has delighted crowds around the world for a few years now, keeping the spirit of the legendary artist‘s music alive.

Blending the participation of artists and musicians who worked with Bowie or those whose careers have been inspired by him (and, really, who hasn’t?), the show is shaping up to be something truly special indeed.

It will stream globally for 24 hours (and only 24 hours!), starting at 6 p.m. PT/9 p.m. ET/2 a.m. GMT on Jan. 8, and is a production from Rolling Live Studios. Trent Reznor, Billy Corgan (Smashing Pumpkins), Gary Oldman, Gavin Rossdale of Bush, Perry Farrell (Jane’s Addiction), Joe Elliott (Def Leppard), Macy Gray, Ian Astbury (The Cult), Lizzy Hale (Halestorm), Gail Ann Dorsey (David Bowie, Lenny Kravitz), Bernard Fowler (Rolling Stones), Corey Glover (Living Color), Tony-winner Lena Hall, Judith Hill and Charlie Sexton, among others — including Bowie band alumni such as his final touring band of Mike Garson, Gail Ann Dorsey, Earl Slick,Sterling Campbell, Gerry Leonard and Catherine Russell along with Zack Alford, Carlos Alomar, Kevin Armstrong, Alan Childs, Robin Clark, Emm Gryner, Omar Hakim, Clare Hirst, Erdal Kızılçay, Tim Lefebvre, Martha Mooke, Holly Palmer, Mark Plati, Carmine Rojas and Tony Visconti.

A Bowie Celebration: Just For One Day! is a global stream that will bring together incredible artists from around the world connected to David Bowie including at least one Bowie alumni band member from every studio album (and more) from his 1969 self titled album to Blackstar, his final album. This is NOT your standard generic Zoom based show. This is a full concert, beautiful, cinematic, and special with 3+ hours of music in celebration of Bowie’s life and legacy. The virtual music experience will be available to rewatch on demand for 24 hours.
